    Join us for Part 1 of Cases of Innocence, focusing on Texas and the case of Robert Roberson, an innocent man facing execution in less than 30 days.

    Despite new evidence, Robert remains on death row, a tragic example of the flaws in the justice system. Studies estimate that at least 4% of those sentenced to death are innocent. In this webinar, advocates will discuss how an innocent person can end up sentenced to death and the monumental challenge of proving innocence.

  • 2024 Arizona Missing and Murdered Indigenous People Awareness Day

    Bring your lawn chairs and blankets to join together on the Capitol lawn for this important annual event. There will be dancers, musicians to bring awareness to Missing and Murdered Indigenous People Awareness Day.

    We’re launching our Defund Death. Fund Justice campaign to support those impacted by cold cases and who have loved ones missing. Join us as we advocate for long-term resources for victims of crime and support agencies with funding to solve cold cases and locate missing persons while divesting from capital punishment.

The stakeholders for this event include families, victims and survivors of crime, university students, and national and state grassroots advocacy organizations.

  • Innocent on Death Row with Ray Krone

    WhIn: March 21, 2024

    College (Mesa)
    In 1991, Ray Krone was wrongly convicted in Phoenix, Arizona, for murder, kidnapping, and sexual assault due to flawed bite-mark evidence. Despite his claims of innocence, he spent over a decade in prison, including time on death row. In 2002, DNA testing proved his innocence and implicated another individual.

    Ray's case underscores the dangers of wrongful convictions, the impact of unreliable evidence, and the significance of scientific methods in the criminal justice system. He became the 100th death row inmate to be exonerated since 1976, shedding light on the issue of wrongful convictions and the risks associated with the death penalty in the United States.

  • A Conversation with Barry Jones & Carry Sandman

    Barry Jones was wrongfully convicted and sentenced to death in 1995 in Arizona. He was released from Arizona's death row on June 15, 2023, after 29 years.     The Arizona Senate Judiciary Committee is holding a discussion on SB1475, a bill introduced by Sen. Mendez and co-sponsored by Sen. Rosanna Gabaldon, Sen. Anna Hernandez, Sen. Priya Sundareshan, Sen. Raquel Teran, and Rep. Athena Salman that would abolish the death penalty in Arizona.

    Join DPAA allies including League of Women Voters of AZ, ACLU of AZ, Conservatives Concerned About the Death Penalty, AZ Catholic Conference, and other activists including Nathson Fields a death row exoneree who was wrongfully incarcerated for over 18 years, serving 12 years of those years death row to provide testimony to support SB1475.
